Expectations and Characteristics of Concrete
We love our craft and are proud of the unique handmade products we create. Our focus is customer care and we aim to deliver a product that others will value and love for many years to come. Therefore, we do our best to manage the expectations of what we can achieve with concrete and if it is the right product for you.
Concrete with its unique characteristics can be a gorgeous element in the home, adding natural texture and warmth to your space. It is hard wearing and will last a lifetime with a little bit of care.
As it naturally ages, it will patina and gain character over time and while that’s a feature we love, we also understand that it may not be the right material for every household. A perfectionist may not find the natural variations to be endearing.
Our products are sealed and waxed, providing an excellent high stain resistant but is not 100% stain proof. Those wanting a product that will look exactly the same throughout the years may need to consider an alternative material.
Please keep these natural and unique characteristics in mind when considering the purchase of our concrete products. We believe these traits all add to the beauty of concrete as it naturally ages, much like a favourite pair of worn out jeans.

• Care & Maintenance Guide
Do's and Don'ts:
We recommend only cleaning with a warm, damp microfibre cloth. If necessary, use a mild detergent.
Please add wax to your cleaning routine to help protect the base sealer. Every three months is recommended, but the more frequent, the better. We recommend Domcrete’s Countertop Wax.
Use a “clean as you go” policy.
Products that are left for a prolonged period can penetrate and stain the concrete. Be mindful of some of the following products: toothpaste, mouthwash, cosmetics, sunscreen, hair dye, nail polish remover, etc.
Please Avoid:
- Using chemical cleaners, including “natural” or anything containing citrus, vinegar, bleach or alcohol.
- Using abrasives, scourers and forceful scrubbing. Be gentle when cleaning around the drain.
- High impact, particularly around the edges, i.e. tapping toothbrush on the edge.
- Exposure to direct sunlight.
- Contact with harsh products. Again, the usual culprits are: toothpaste, mouthwash, cosmetics, sunscreen, hair dye, and nail polish removal. Please clean as you go.
- Filling with water and leaving for a prolonged period as this will wear out the sealer significantly. Your basin was designed for washing, not soaking.
Baking soda and isopropyl alcohol can be used to draw out some stains. For more stubborn stains, please get in touch with us. We’ll do our best to come up with possible remedies to help rectify the issues.
• Frequently Asked Questions
Are your concrete products sealed?
Yes, all of our concrete products are sealed prior to delivery. We use the best sealers available on the market that are specifically designed for interior concrete products.
Our hybrid polyurethane sealer is both topical and penetrative, maximising stain resistance while leaving a natural matte finish that is completely food safe.
All types of sealer will wear over time. We recommend adding wax to your regular cleaning schedule to add protection to the sealer and help maintain the natural beauty of our concrete products for years to come. We recommend using Domcrete Concrete Countertop Wax.
Will concrete stain, crack and/or chip?
Our concrete specific sealers offer maximum protection from staining and heat resistance while being completely food safe. However, we can never guarantee a 100% stain-proof material. Similar to other stone such as marble, markings can occur from prolong exposures with spills like olive oil, red wine, juice, or coffee.
Chipping, scratches and breakage can occur with enough force so care is required especially around edges.
Hairline fractures may occur occasionally, though it does not affect the structural integrity of the concrete.
This is the nature of concrete and is to be considered before choosing the product.
Is it easy to clean and care for your concrete products?
Yes, cleaning our products is simply done with a warm damp cloth or with mild detergent. No harsh or special chemicals are needed nor is it recommended.
Adding wax to a regular bathroom cleaning schedule every 3-4 months will help maintain the product’s longevity and appearance.
What is the waste requirement for your basins?
All of our products are handcrafted and made to order. Our current lead time is approximately 3-4 weeks from date of purchase to dispatching from our warehouse.
Please get in touch with us if you require our products sooner and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.
Tracking will be provided once your order has been shipped. Delivery updates will be provided from the courier company. Please allow for possible freight delays during holiday periods which are unfortunately beyond our control.
Do you recommend concrete basins for kitchens?
Generally, no. We’ll usually advise against it. Kitchen sinks will experience a lot of heavy abrasions from pots, pans, cutlery and harsh chemicals which will quickly degrade the quality of the surface and sealer.
With that said, some of our customers prefer the well used and well loved look that patinas over time. Others who don’t love the imperfections might find that our basins are more suitable for bathrooms and powder rooms.
Kitchen basins are one offs, please get in touch with us if you’d like to discuss custom pieces.

- Our products ship for free to anywhere in Australia.
- Please enquire if express shipping is needed.
- Pick up from our warehouse is free.
- Please enquire for a shipping quote for international orders.
Tracking will be provided. If you experience any delay in shipping:
- Please get in touch with our team and we’ll do our best to help.
- Get in touch with the courier directly with your tracking information. This is often the faster solution.
Please note shipping cost is non-refundable for returns or exchanges.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please inspect your products as soon as possible after delivery and contact us within 48 hours if there are any damage. Photo evidence must be provided. Do not sign or accept the package if there are any damage to the box.
Any claim for transit damage will not be accepted beyond 48 hours of delivery.

Returns & Exchanges
We do not accept exchanges, returns or refunds on:
- Products made to order,
- Colour samples,
- and Sale items.
Please ensure your order is correct at time of purchase. Production begins as soon as orders are placed.
For in stock products that are undamaged and uninstalled, we offer a 14-day EXCHANGE ONLY, no refund. A 15% restocking fee will be applied. A request for exchange must be made within 14 days of receiving your item. The buyer will be responsible for the cost and risk of returning the goods to us and shipment of new replacement.
Items damaged in transit will only be applicable for exchange if we are notified within 48 hours after delivery.
Warranty Policy
All Mayde Concrete products will be protected with a 24 month replacement/repair warranty if the product has failed its structural integrity with original proof of purchase required.
Mayde Concrete’s sole responsibility is replacement or repair of a defective product and may not be responsible for other expenses associated with a defective product including labour and installation.
• Installation Guide
Please read carefully before installation
** WASTE MUST BE HAND TIGHTENED ONLY **
- Basin must be fitted by a licensed installer and according to this guide or warranty will be void.
- Waste must be hand tighten ONLY. Cracking due to improper installation will not be covered.
- Please inspect product for any damage prior to installing.
- Please avoid placing any tools in the basin to prevent any damage to the basin and sealer.

Using clear 100% silicone sealant, apply a continuous bead to all the areas shown below in red.
Finish with wiping away all excess sealant before it sets using a warm damp cloth with mild detergent. Do not use any harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubs on the basin.
Important Note: Leave to dry for at least 24 hours before water testing.
